1ClickDVDCopy is the most user friendly out of the software titles tested with great ease of use and amazing tech support and is extremely quick on supported devices. There is no split feature but the good compression engine makes up for this. It also as the added bonus of a free copy of CopyToDVD from VSO software which we feel is the best double layer recording engine. |

DVDFab Platinum is the only one of the tested software to offer fully intergrated CSS decyption. If you feel comfortable splitting if needed as well as compressing, this is the one to go for. |
|
NeroRecode comes from long standing and acclaimed software company Ahead. It offers slightly more features than 1ClickDVDCopy but its ease of use is not quite as good. Also tech support is not as fast as 1ClickDVDCopy but it has a very good range of compression options. |
|
DVD95Copy comes from one of the pioneers of transcoding and has been around a long time. It offers many options as well as selective compression for every title in the DVD backup and is also the cheapest software tested. It was not as user friendly as 1ClickDVDCopy, but it was a good all round DVD backup software with a very nice compression engine. |
|
CloneDVD comes from the makers of CloneCD and offers the user a wide range of options as well as a very good compression engine. The split mode was very hard to get used to but the wizard style interface was good for a new user. |
A word from SirQUK - who tested all featured software:
I cannot really fault any of the tested software when it comes to the compression methods used (if any). 1Click was by far the fastest but then again, to the naked eye, DVD95Copy may have been a little sharper although it was 3 times slower than 1Click. While testing a lot of things where taken into consideration. How easy was the software to use, did it have all the required options for a good backup, could you choose the main movie only for maximum quality, and was the software easy to use.
Other things taken into big concideration included customers support and ease of access to the developers of the software. We do host some official forums but had to give the thumbs up on this to 1Click as I got an answer to an email at 3 am Sunday morning! (simply amazing Alexia - you should have the customer support of the year award ). Not only did Alexia answer, but gave a full detailed reason for our 'error' and 2 possible solutions.
